Recruitment and Retention of new Eudora Schools staff
Recruitment
In past years, Eudora Schools has had a traditional approach to visiting university teacher fairs. We are broadening the number of universities we are attending and plan to have an interactive table with an elevated appearance to engage teacher candidates. We have purchased new swag items (traditional pens and sticky notes but also fidget pens, mints, popcorn, and a prize wheel). All materials taken to the fairs have been rebranded and cleaned up to give a consistent look. In addition to in person teacher fairs, we are now using Handshake, one of the top recommended ways to recruit college students, to widen our reach of candidates in and outside of Kansas. We are also partnering with Educate Kansas, which will produce a video capturing Eudora Schools, including classroom footage, community shots, and interviews of staff, students, and a parent. Finally, we plan to host a “Visit Eudora Day,” inviting prospective teachers to see Eudora Schools and our community firsthand.
Retention
In terms of retention, we have implemented a continuous onboarding program for new Eudora Schools staff members. This is so that they are not overwhelmed by the amount of information presented to them. These sessions are catered to their needs and how we can best support them.
I also assist with the communication of district culture/goals/focus areas with employees as well as planning and executing staff recognition and celebrations.
